Vocáli – the Details
When is Vocáli 2020?
Thursday April 23rd – 26th. Camp sign-in is from 4pm -5pm. Camp check out is Sunday morning April 26th.
What is the price for Vocáli?
Registration Fee for Adults and Youth 15 and older. We are introducing a new pricing structure in 2020, a “sliding scale” where participants will pay between $475 – $600 based on each individual’s ability to contribute. We appreciate and encourage as many of you as possible to pay between $550 – $600 this year in order for the camp to meet its budget.
Why has the price increased and why are we introducing this sliding scale? There are two reasons we need to introduce these changes:
- The past three Vocali camps were not financially viable. In order for us to be able to offer Vocali each year and make it a sustainable opportunity long-term, the camp has to financially support itself. Assuming that a large number of participants pay between $550 – $600 we will meet our budget.
- We are committed to helping those unable to pay the registration fee this year to still be able to fully participate. Essentially, through the generosity of others (remember: we are ONE community), we are providing “partial scholarships” to a limited number of participants, thus making Vocali equally available to all interested, regardless of financial ability.
We are committed to bringing you a wonderful and impactful Vocali experience and we need your help to achieve this collective goal.
What your Vocáli experience includes…
All classes, full meal plan (breakfast, lunch & dinner) with shared bedrooms or camper/trailer options with limited space and on a first come first serve basis.
NOTE: Students under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian also attending as a student.
Your registration fee includes a nonrefundable $75. deposit.
The Classes; do we choose what we take?
All students will move through the same curriculum. This will be a pre-determined, yet flexibly taught, series of classes exploring and connecting spoken word and music expression of our voices. These fun yet challenging classes are designed to reduce inhibitions and break down barriers as we promote socialization, interaction, cooperation and creative advancement in the process.
These sessions are based on experiencing a variety of vocal applications in a sequence of topics by our faculty staff. We’ll be encouraged to try new things that may place us outside our comfort zones – which is an awesome opportunity for creative growth in this safe and supportive environment of learning.
SO, there is no need to ‘choose’ classes; we’re going to do it ALL and we’re going to do it all together!
Lodging and Accommodations
Tokayana Cottage is located in Colfax, CA (Northern California foothills east of Auburn) with the smell and feel of clean springtime air. We may have cool nights and the days will likely be very pleasant this time of year so pack clothing to fit springtime weather. Bring a hat for warmth and/or shade and some layers for outdoor activities. Bring comfortable shoes and an extra pair of shoes for walking or hiking. If you’re a light sleeper, a set of ear plugs would be a good thing to bring. We’ll try to have extras on hand should you forget.
KEEP IN MIND, WE HAVE ONLY 30 SPACES THIS YEAR 2020!
This facility has shared rooms with both twin, bunk and full beds. There are also a few trundle beds for folks coming with friends that don’t mind being a bit cozy. Women will bunk together – and men will bunk together. There are also a few rooms available for couples. Let us know if you have any specific lodging requests or needs. We will do our best to accommodate your inquires on a first come / first basis.
This year we are proud to offer 6 to 7 spaces for small campers and or trailers. Space is limited and on a first come first serve basis! Sorry, tent camping is not available at this facility.
Delicious & Nutritious Meals
We will, once again, be offering another outstanding menu of fine camp cuisine. Simple yet wholesome nutritious meals by the Yaya Dinettes plus one. We will have meat and vegetarian options, salads, soups, breads plus fresh fruits, yogurt, nuts, hot & cold cereals and juices.
If you have any severe food allergies, we’ll do our best to assist you in creative solutions to your needs. There will always be coffee, teas and plenty of life’s little treasure ~ water. We invite you and appreciate any special beverages you bring to share, (ie. wine, beer or energy drinks).
